TARGET

Managers, directors, and head of unit of small, medium and large commercial distribution companies. Supervisors of franchising selling points. Security personnel of different size and nature points of sale. Employees of commercial distribution points of sale (as storehouse, logistics, and administrative personnel, as well as staff employed in direct contact to the public). Managers of shopping centres, outlets, shopping malls.

OBJECTIVES OF COURSE

The course aims at providing knowledge and tools to foster a robust and updated competence for the management of security issues in commercial companies and points of sale. Training will cover all aspects of security, starting from the public area (with goods on display and more or less freely accessible), till storehouses, external areas, offices and their equipments, personnel and consumers areas. A specific focus is on goods and specific issues regarding them: inventory differences, and shopliftings. The course addresses fundamental juridical and legal issues connected to the respect of the GDPR rules and the privacy laws (as in case of video surveillance and CCTVs use), security of personnel, and of consumers. Particular attention is dedicated to the behavioral approach in case of critical events inside shopping areas (as shoplifting and robbery).

PROGRAMME                                             

I MODULE (One Day)
– Issues related to security in points of sale. Different approaches in relation to the different role of the involved employee (from managers to staff in charge of security) (two hours)
– Surveillance and control of points of sale. General issues concerning different points of sale, different goods, storehouse infrastructures and means of transport (two hours)
– Fundamentals on civil and criminal law relevant in the addressed sector (one hour)
– Security issues concerning structural, logistics, distributional, and organizational aspects of different commercial infrastructures. Inventory differences and the shoplifting phenomenon. Possible solutions offered by the criminological prevention (e.g. situational prevention). Procedures and technical solutions: detailed analysis of different organizational assets and infrastructures (two hours)
– Practical activity and case study (one hour)

II MODULE (One Day)
– Prevention of the inventory differences: organizational aspects, procedures, and control activities (one hour)
– The shoplifting. Definition and prevention (one hour)
– Video-surveillance, CCTVS, and privacy and identification. The GDPR and other privacy laws and regulations. Specific focus on internal (e.g. on employees) and external controsl (e.g. on consumers). Legal aspects connected to different technological solutions, tools, and procedures and techniques (two hours)
– Management of critical situations in points of sale without a specific and organized security plan and a dedicated  security sttaff. Specific focus on psychological and behavioral issues. Fundamentals of conflict resolution and problem solving (two hours)
– Valorization of own personal competences and knowledge in managing critical situations, with a specific focus on prevention activities and on the legal risks in not approaching correctly security issues (one hour)
– Practical activity and case study (one hour)

TRAINING METHODOLOGY

The course is actually provided on line. Considering the need not only to provide knowledge and information to the participants, but also to involve them in practical activities and to support them through Q&A sessions, it is provided through on line platforms and tools requiring the simultaneous attendance of the participants. Deferred and non-synchronous classes may be organised if appropriate.

TRAINING MATERIAL

At the beginning of each module, the participants will receive in electronic format the slides that will be used. During classes, websites and useful links will be indicated to the attendees, and will be used for the development of different practical exercises.

DURATION

The course will last 16 hours.

NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS

Minimum number of participants: 5.
